6 Ways to add healing GELATIN into your diet and why you need it.

If you’re looking for a magical food that will make your hair, skin and nails look AMAZING, then GELATIN is it!

Not just any gelatin, grass-fed gelatin. I use this brand. I know it comes from a sustainable farm of happy, humanely raised animals that aren’t fed GMO-laden grains. This is important to me, I hope it is to you too. : )

Gelatin has so many healing uses, I’m continually amazed by all it’s awesome powers. It contains massive amounts of natural collagen so therefore aids in the growth of healthy hair, skin and nails. The collagen you get in the diet actually makes a huge difference, unlike the collagen in your lotions and cremes that can’t be absorbed topically, because it is too large to be absorbed by the skin. Ditch the expensive skin care products and start taking gelatin daily for best beauty results!

Another healing benefit of gelatin is healthy joints. Collagen keeps the joints lubricated and helps aid in recovery of joint injuries as well as any other sport-related injuries. Gelatin is great for anyone suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis or osteoporosis.

No more constipation! Gelatin helps keep things moving along smoothly, if you know what I mean! It binds to water and sweeps through the digestive tract, clearing away toxins and allowing nutrients to be absorbed through the gut.

Perhaps one of the most important healing capacities of gelatin is that it aids in repairing and rebuilding the lining of the gut. I’m sure you’ve heard of “leaky gut” by now. When the tight junctions in the lining of the gut wall open up too much, they allow pathogenic substances through that can cause  harm to the body, as well as large-undigested food particles that can contribute to food sensitivities. Studies are showing that the health of the gut is so crucial to healing any digestive, adrenal, psychological/mental/emotional disorders. Check out my 28 day program for healing leaky gut here!

Gelatin also boosts immunity, aids in weight loss, helps tighten loose skin, aids in digestion, improves cellulite and provides amino acids to help build lean muscle mass. What a magical real food… that heals! Real Food Heals!

I would suggest taking a tablespoon everyday. Some people just add it to an 8oz glass of juice or water, mix well and shoot it down the hatch, but here are some other ways to get it into your diet.

  1. I just discovered your blog and immediately mixed turmeric into some lemony water I was already preparing. I also recognize that I need to include more of it in my diet. (Try it sprinkled on eggs any way you like them, with a squeeze of lemon. This is incredible! My 5 year-old also loves this.) The main reason for my reply: I just wanted you to see that your gelatin is cheaper here:

Thank you for your beautiful and informative blog! I will check back.

    • Hi Christine! I’m glad your 5 year old is so open to tumeric eggs! Thanks for the vitacost link, I love vitacost! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to subscribe to my blog for more free nutrition tips and info. : )

    • Hi there! A quick phone call to their customer service department (847-223-8141) confirms this statement. They are raised in Argentina where they are grass-fed and grass-finished. It’s actually very costly to grain-feed animals but we do it here in the U.S. to fatten animals up, unfortunately. But just because we do it here doesn’t mean that they do it in all other countries. Hope that answers your question! It’s a really safe product that many health professionals recommend. : )

  2. Hi

I just read your article on gelatin and found it so informative.
I was wondering if you knew if there were any reasons not to
take gelatin while trying to get pregnant or while pregnant.

    Thanks so much.
    Erin

    • Hi Erin! I am actually 17 weeks pregnant myself right now and include it in my diet almost daily. It’s high in protein, great for building a baby and extremely healing for the gut lining which is so crucial for immune health, and to the health of your whole body! Stay tuned for a post on gut health soon! I see no reason why you wouldn’t include it in your diet unless you had a food sensitivity to beef, in that case you would probably know already and wouldn’t be eating beef products anyway. The most important thing to remember is that you want to buy clean, grass-fed gelatin like the brand in this post. Hope that answers your question. : )
